KREDDIBLE TROUT PHOTOGRAPHY
cafe montmartre
2002
Kreddible Trout was born of one part desire for anonymity and one part pure chickenshittedness moments before his first poetry reading on May 3rd 2000 in Montreal. That’s right, Kreddible Trout was a poet. Born of words he grew tired of ‘the scene’ as he discovered that even in the murky depths of the art world known as ‘spoken word’ it had too many pretenses.
Though his beginnings were in Montreal, Cafe Montmartre on Main Street in Vancouver was where KT flourished. Along with many others at an event that was called Thundering Word Heard he found his voice with the encouragement of a brilliant ol huckster & wordsmith named T-Paul Ste Marie (white cowboy hat – R.I.P. T-Paul) who ran the show. Cafe Montmartre on Sunday night was one of the most vibrant, important venues in the early days of the Millennium. Anywhere. Poets to odd musicians to sideshow-freaks to tap dancers and well beyond. The meekest loose leaf emo-poets to the bold old pricks like me.
This place was a gem. Still is I assume, if it’s still there. Stop by, Courtney and Ali make a mean crepe (if there is such a thing)

The shot was taken as I was spending the last of a 400 roll to load up some 800 to shoot some of the spectacle inside.
