This piece is the result of several months work and many nights of mad science and has been changed slightly from it's original format. (the following shots you'll see no black background behind the main frame. This was added when I visited the victim... er... customer in San Diego. At his request we affixed some black material in there to give it more 'URMPH'!)
I have to say that the interesting collaboration with the customer, a gentleman named John of Southern California, made this artistic Frankenstein's monster as unique as it is. A creation born of email ramblings and tangents that made me feel as though I could add 'Man of Letters' to my long list of sidelines. I fear Mr. John may be as odd as I am. (you will agree once you've read my blog regarding my recent trip to San Diego. Check dates March - May 2010.)
It's measurements are proximately 45 inches long and 28 inches tall. It is a three dimensional piece and has varying depths but from the wall out sits about 5-6 inches.
It consists of an old decorative wall clock (lower left big piece with 'montreal die in') dismantled & reworked, a semi-antique gold metal & glass frame (lower right 'their chickens for eggs'), two wooden frames (main piece & long one), two personally hand made boxes (the two floating pieces in the long frame 'THE' and 'anti-capitalism sale') and one old wooden tennis racket press (the very bottom piece 'manta').
It now hangs on the wall in John's house. "it's exactly not what I was expecting and exactly what I expected."
